Warrington, Cheshire Category Manager Purpose As a Category Manager you will define, identify, deliver and implement energy procurement strategies to support the delivery of Business Plans within the Regulatory Contract. You will minimise the Companies exposure to commodity price and supply fluctuations and post contract management of energy and support services contracts. As Category Manager you will be expected to work with Key Stakeholders to deliver and implement strategies that support using less, generating more and being efficient in the way our processes and assets deliver outputs. Category Manager Accountabilities - Understand and contribute to business strategy and policy through category planning & stakeholder influencing. - Promote and gain insight into current & future market trends and dynamics of the energy category allowing UU to make informed choices on future business strategy. - Own and manage the delivery of identified sustainability targets. - Deploy category knowledge across supply chain/UU and develop and maintain network of contacts in the business, industry and supply base. - To ensure contracts within the category are managed in accordance with the category, contract management policies, procedures - Managing and reporting KPI performance across key contracts in the category, analyse performance issues and implementing corrective actions. - To own, manage and deliver improvement and innovation activities in the category. - Influence specification, supply and sourcing, particularly in terms of commercial risk, operational risk, economies of scale, innovation and efficiency. - Negotiating contractual agreements with external providers to ensure the service, quality, added value, total cost management and security of supply - Establish and maintain working relationships with operational and business based management teams within UU. Negotiating, influencing and motivational skills will be important. - Managing the conflicting interests of various businesses and service providers. - To motivate, coach, develop and manage the people allocated to energy, ensuring they are performing in line with role requirements and in line with their specific development needs. - This list is not exhaustive and includes any other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities required from time to time. Knowledge and Skills - Must have experience of implementing commercial relationships across functional and business boundaries and a quantifiable track record of savings delivery, advanced negotiation skills and change implementation - Must have knowledge of key procurement processes, tools and methodologies used by leading edge procurement practitioners including knowledge of 'Category Management' - Must have experience of Contract Management including contractual KPIs, performance manage including interventions. - Must have knowledge of techniques for implementing commercial agreements in a complex and rapidly changing environment. - The ability to influence at senior management levels to embrace and support the strategic agenda is essential Desirable Criteria - Preferably degree educated - Working knowledge of the energy markets - Preferably a working understanding of the renewable generation market - Experience in managing Meter Operator and Data Aggregator/ Data Collector contracts. - Preferably a working understanding of European Emissions Trading Scheme as an authorised representative on the UK Registry. - Working knowledge of structuring Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) - Preferably have worked in an environment where market assessment results in informed decisions with regard to purchasing energy and or contracted services Additional Information We are an equal opportunity employer and committed to creating a diverse environment.
